RHXQ is a reaction to the musical backgrounds of Dial In. Coming from classically influenced piano and a reliance on singer-songwriter forms, the duo attempted to press the reset button on the familiar. The song was written to explore the possibilities of performing as a two-piece. The result is Dial In’s first foray into electronic music; a song that has heavily distorted keys taking the melodic reigns, textural guitar, and a beat that becomes progressively cubist. The vocals were used as an additional texture, eliminating the need for concrete lyrics. An arbitrary working title became the perfect representation of the song.
